Back To Normal Announced for July through September

The first Art 365 exhibit came to an end at the beginning of this year. Oklahoma artists and audiences can now look forward to the next one, not to mention OVAC's other great events, like Momentum (this weekend!). Fortunately, my series for Art 365, titled Normal, OK, continues to grow. I have booked a new showing of Normal, OK at the Oklahoma Heritage Association's Gaylord-Pickens Museum in Oklahoma City. The show is scheduled to open the first week of July and run through the end of September 2009. We are tentatively placing the public reception at Thursday 17 September. More details as they come.
I am working on new character portraits for Normal -- folks you may have read about in the book, whose faces have yet to be revealed. (Kind of like cylons.) Stay tuned.

Friday the 13th is also the last day to catch All This Is That & The Other Thing, a show of installation art at IAO. The IAO Gallery is located at 811 N. Broadway in OKC. Hours are Wed, Thurs and Sat 12-5:30, Fri 12-8 pm.
Core Evidence at Mainsite 02.13.2009

I will have three paintings in Mainsite Gallery's annual group invitiational show, Core Evidence, which opens this Friday, February 13th, 2009. Mainsite is located at 122 E Main St. in Norman, Oklahoma. The reception, part of a Norman Artwalk, will be from 7-9 pm. The event is free and open to the public.
Core Evidence will display art from the featured artists' current bodies of work. Each artists is represented by works that comprise a "core sample" of their ongoing techniques and concepts. Featured artists include Todd Stewart, Paul Mays, XVALA, and myself. The group show runs concurrent to a solo show of paintings by Steve Breerwood.
This show at Mainsite is part of the Norman Arts Council's 2nd Friday Circuit of Art, a scheme developed by the Fred Jones Junior Museum of Art, the Norman Arts Council, the Norman Gallery Association and the CART (Cleveland County Area Rapid Transit) Trolley. Patrons are encouraged to park their cars in the Downtown area, at the Firehouse, the Campus Corner area or surrounding areas and travel by foot or by CART Trolley to participating events destinations. Signs and information will be available at all participating locations and in the parking lot at University and Main at the Norman Arts Council Event Tent. This is your brain on vacation.
As you may have read, I have a piece in the Society of Illustrators Annual 51. The show for the Book and Editorial categories has opened, and I'll be attending the awards night this Friday, February 6th, with friends and family.
Other things I plan to do in New York include: Walking a lot Eating a lot, for example, at Sakagura Attending the Society's weekly Jazz & Sketch night on Thursday Catching the end of the James Jean show Kindling at Johnathan LeVine Gallery And maybe getting a haircut
